Welcome to room 124's website!

Ms. Lauer's philosophy on Teaching:

My philosophy as a teacher is that every child is unique and learns in a different way. I believe it is the responsibility of teachers to recognize the special talents of each student and to help every child strive for excellence as a learner and as a person. I believe that children need organization and structure to feel both directed and secure as well as a child-centered environment where all feel welcome and appreciated. Other important aspects of teaching include exploration and use of technology, effective problem solving skills and frequent and varied evaluation. Academic knowledge, independent thinking, and concern for others are the keys to success in life and these skills must be practiced consistently throughout a child's educational experience.

My classroom community is structured to address the variety of learning styles and needs of all children. Academic excellence is achieved through setting high standards, creating a technology rich environment, and providing children with continuous assessment and individual assistance. Empathy, understanding, and kindness are strongly emphasized in my class so that students realize the importance of treating others with respect.
