For the
MARJORIE WEDELL MEMORIAL AWARD
Marjorie Wedell was affiliated with District 69 for 37 years, first as a teacher, then for the last 25 years of her life as a principal of Kenton School and Madison School. Many remember her as a person dedicated to learning, teaching, and giving of herself to children and adults alike.
After her death in March 1980, the MARJOIRE WEDELL MEMORIAL AWARD was established. Each year a person is chosen to receive this award for his or her outstanding and dedicated service to the school district. The recipient of the award is selected from nominees submitted to the award committee, and the award is presented annually at the Lincoln Junior High School graduation program.
If you would like to nominate someone for this award, please fill out the attached petition. Eligibility does not depend upon district residency or employment. Members of the award committee are ineligible for the award during the year in which they participate on the committee.
Take this opportunity to suggest someone you feel is very special to our district. Nominations will be accepted until April 1, 2012.

Winter Break Activities for Students:
Dear Parents and Stakeholders of District 69,
I am happy to share some good news about a recent update to our website. Part of our commitment to improving education for our students is the establishment of a guaranteed and viable curriculum. As Illinois and the United States move to a National Common Core, we in District 69 are working hard to transition as well. Part of our commitment to improvement also includes transparency with you, our stakeholders. Check out the website and note the common core tab on the right hand side of every page. I encourage you to click on this tab and explore! It is a great opportunity for you to learn more about what our children need to know and be able to do.
